Vespa unveils Edizione Ottantesimo Limited Edition

Vespa has marked its 80th anniversary with the unveiling of the new Edizione Ottantesimo, a special-edition scooter that pays tribute to one of the world’s most recognisable two-wheeled brands. Limited to just 1,946 units globally, a nod to the year Vespa was founded, the anniversary model blends classic styling cues with the modern technology found on the company’s flagship GTS range.

Mechanically, the Edizione Ottantesimo is based on the Vespa GTS 310, retaining its 310cc single-cylinder engine that produces 24.6bhp at 6,500rpm and 28.5Nm of torque at 5,250rpm. While performance remains unchanged, the focus here is on exclusivity and heritage rather than outright speed.

The scooter comes generously equipped, featuring full-LED lighting, a five-inch TFT display, smartphone connectivity, traction control, ABS and keyless ignition as standard. Suspension consists of Vespa’s signature single-sided front swingarm with coil spring and hydraulic damping, while the rear uses twin hydraulic shock absorbers with four-position preload adjustment. Braking is handled by 220mm hydraulic disc brakes at both ends.

What truly sets the Edizione Ottantesimo apart is its attention to detail. The uniquely styled wheel rims draw inspiration from the original sheet-metal wheels fitted to the iconic Vespa 98 of 1946, while distinctive three-dimensional ’80’ graphics adorn both sides of the scooter. Buyers will also receive a matching silver-and-green commemorative helmet featuring the same anniversary branding, adding to the collector appeal of the package.

With production capped at just 1,946 examples worldwide, the Edizione Ottantesimo is aimed squarely at enthusiasts and collectors looking to own a piece of Vespa history.
