CFMoto V4SR-RR with 207bhp and Independent Active Winglets Confirmed

CFMoto has confirmed the upcoming V4SR-RR superbike at EICMA in Milan, revealing an in-house developed 997cc V4 engine producing more than 207bhp. The new flagship will feature a 15,000rpm rev limit, a claimed dry weight of around 180kg and an active aerodynamic system that uses independently moving winglets.

Three things to know

  • 997cc V4 produces more than 207bhp, with a 15,000rpm rev limit.
  • Independently controlled active winglets adjust aerodynamic load.
  • Claimed dry weight is around 180kg, with Öhlins suspension and Brembo brakes.

The engine is a 90-degree V4 featuring a counter-rotating crankshaft, a configuration commonly associated with MotoGP machinery. It also uses titanium connecting rods supplied by Austrian specialist Pankl. The confirmed 15,000rpm ceiling is 500rpm higher than the 14,500rpm redline CFMoto had previously quoted for the prototype.

Earlier patent filings offered a glimpse of the engine’s internal design, revealing a variable-length intake system and finger-follower valve actuation. The layout also appears to follow a design approach used by Ducati, with the engine serving as a stressed member of the chassis. A short cast front frame bolts directly to the cylinder heads, helping create a compact structure around the V4.

However, the most unusual feature is the V4SR-RR’s active aerodynamics. Each winglet is operated by its own servo, allowing the two sides to move independently rather than following a fixed position. CFMoto claims the system can increase front-wheel downforce by 20% immediately before braking from 160km/h, compared with conventional fixed winglets. At higher speeds, the ability to set different angles on either side is intended to help the motorcycle change direction.

Patent details reported earlier by MCN provide a clearer picture of how the system works. During acceleration, the winglets sit almost flat to reduce aerodynamic resistance. As speed increases, they rise to angles of between 10 and 20 degrees to improve stability. Under hard braking, they can move much further, reaching angles of 45 to 90 degrees.

The chassis is designed to offer extensive adjustment, while the component selection reflects the bike’s superbike ambitions. Öhlins suspension is paired with Brembo Hypure Sport brake calipers, Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V4 tyres and a full-titanium Akrapovič exhaust system.

CFMoto has also displayed a V4SR-RR Carbon Black alongside the standard model at EICMA. Described as a more extreme, track-focused version, it features dedicated performance components and accessories, although the manufacturer has yet to provide further details.
