HJC unveils limited-edition RPHA 1 V2 Funky Diablo helmet

HJC has introduced a new limited-edition version of its flagship RPHA 1 V2 Carbon racing helmet. Called the RPHA 1 V2 Carbon Funky Diablo, the helmet recreates the design worn by Fabio Quartararo at the 2025 Catalan Grand Prix, combining an exposed carbon-fibre shell with a bright collection of neon graphics.

The limited-edition helmet has already proved popular, with HJC Europe confirming that it has sold out. That makes the Funky Diablo a particularly difficult helmet to get hold of, despite only being introduced in the European market for now.

Based on the RPHA 1 V2 Carbon, the Funky Diablo leaves much of the helmet’s carbon weave exposed instead of covering it with a full layer of paint. Bright green, yellow, orange, pink and blue graphics are then spread across the shell, creating a sharp contrast with the exposed carbon finish. At the centre of the design is the Diablo character on the crown, developed by Quartararo and helmet designer Sylvain from Aero Diffusion as a nod to the rider’s familiar ‘El Diablo’ identity. Adding another touch to the design, the character also features a glow-in-the-dark finish.

While the artwork is the most obvious feature, the helmet retains the racing-focused construction of the RPHA 1 V2 Carbon underneath. Its carbon-fibre outer shell was developed using feedback and data from professional MotoGP riders, while HJC claims a weight of around 1,400g, with a 50g tolerance for a medium-sized helmet. The company also uses four different outer-shell sizes across the available fit range to maintain a compact overall shape.

The racing focus continues with the aerodynamic equipment. A rear racing spoiler is fitted to improve high-speed stability, while HJC also supplies a dark smoke spoiler that allows the rider to change the helmet’s appearance and aerodynamic setup. The shell and spoiler combination has been developed around the demands of racing rather than everyday riding.

Supporting that focus is HJC’s Advanced Channeling Ventilation System, which uses five intake vents and four exhaust outlets to move air through the helmet. The HJ-35 visor adds 99 per cent UV protection and an anti-scratch coating, while its double-locking mechanism is designed to prevent unwanted opening at high speeds. The visor can also be removed without tools, making cleaning and replacement easier. Completing the specification is a titanium double D-ring fastening system. The HJC RPHA 1 V2 Carbon Funky Diablo also carries ECE 22.06 approval and certification under the latest FIM Racing Homologation Programme, FRHPhe-02, reinforcing its focus as a competition-oriented helmet
