BMW has teased its upcoming 450-based streetfighter through social media, with the motorcycle expected to be called the F 450 R. It will become the second model from BMW to use the brand’s 450 platform, following the F 450 GS, and the teaser offers an early look at what to expect from the upcoming naked motorcycle.
The teaser reveals a sporty and aggressive design, with a muscular fuel tank featuring sharp extensions and a raised tail section. Another notable detail is the apparent underbelly exhaust, which gives the motorcycle a cleaner appearance from the side.
Powering the F 450 R will be the same 420cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine used on the 450 platform. In its current specification, the motor produces 48bhp at 8,750rpm and 43Nm at 6,750rpm. BMW could retune the engine for the streetfighter to suit its road-focused character.
The motorcycle will also feature revised underpinnings. The teaser images show what appear to be 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends, likely paired with road-focused tyres, while disc brakes are fitted to both wheels. In terms of equipment, the F 450 R is expected to get a TFT console similar to the F 450 GS. Its electronics package is also likely to include multiple riding modes and traction control, among other features.
The new BMW will compete with the Aprilia Tuono 457, while the KTM 390 Duke R will be another alternative. BMW is scheduled to unveil the motorcycle on 1 October 2026, with pricing expected to sit towards the premium end of the segment, similar to the F 450 GS.
