2026 Kawasaki Z900 RS and SE unveiled with new features

  • Come with new paint options
  • Introduced with a six-axis IMU
  • No word about the global launch timeline

Kawasaki has introduced a series of updates to the Z900RS and its higher-spec SE sibling, bringing a modest power increase and a more advanced electronics package thanks to the addition of an IMU.

The 948cc inline-four engine carries over from last year, but revised internals lift output to 114bhp and 72lb.ft of torque. New throttle valves are fitted, along with a bi-directional quickshifter as standard.

The headline upgrade is the introduction of a six-axis IMU, which enables lean-sensitive traction control and cornering ABS on both models, bringing the retro-styled roadsters in line with more modern rivals in terms of rider aids. Exhaust changes include a redesigned megaphone-style silencer and reshaped headers. Suspension remains fully adjustable, with the SE variant distinguished by the fitment of an Öhlins S46 rear shock.

Braking hardware differs between the two models. The Z900RS SE uses Brembo callipers paired with steel-braided brake lines, while the standard Z900RS makes do with Kawasaki-branded Tokico four-piston callipers and conventional rubber hoses. Seat height is unchanged, measuring 835mm on the Z900RS and 845mm on the SE. Kawasaki also offers an optional low seat, reducing standover height to 810mm for riders seeking easier access.

While the updates are significant, there is no word about the global launch timeline for the 2026 Z900 range as of now.
