2026 Yamaha WR250F and WR450F get new anti-theft feature!

  • No word about global launch timeline yet

Yamaha has introduced a series of minor but noteworthy updates to its 2026 enduro lineup, with the headline feature being an all-new anti-theft ECU lock function.

This security system can be accessed via the Yamaha Power Tuner app, also used across the brand’s YZ Off-Road Competition models. Marketed as an industry-first innovation, the system ensures the bike’s engine will only start once it has been unlocked using a password, adding a crucial layer of protection for riders.

Yamaha WR250F and WR450F

Both the WR250F and WR450F now sport new blue seats and refreshed graphics, while pricing has seen slight adjustments compared to their outgoing versions. Mechanically, the bikes remain unchanged, retaining their trusted powerplants. The WR250F continues with its engine derived from the championship-winning YZ250F motocrosser, while the WR450F carries its advanced reverse-head motor, which Yamaha describes as the most powerful and sophisticated design ever featured in one of its enduro machines.

Suspension duties are handled by KYB’s renowned SSS (Speed-Sensitive System) front fork, paired with fully adjustable compression and rebound damping. Braking comes courtesy of Nissin, with a 270mm twin-piston front disc and a 240mm rear disc ensuring strong stopping power. As for fuel capacity, the WR450F sports a 7.9-litre tank while the WR250F comes with a 7.4-litre unit.
