Yamaha has taken the MT-09 to the next level by combining intelligence and style to further pursue what they call the Dark Side of Japan.

For 2024, the new MT-09 will offer an even more thrilling riding experience with pure adrenalin, aggressive and edgy styling and a premium specification featuring the latest in technological advancements.

New TFT dash and smartphone connectivity

The latest version of the triple-cylinder MT-09 will feature a new 5” full-colour TFT screen with smartphone connectivity and navigation, customisable Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) settings, cruise control, a third-generation quickshifter, and a six-axis IMU with a full suite of lean-sensitive rider aids, including a new BackSlip Regulator (BSR).

The styling has also been given an update, with the new MT-09 also boasting a sharper, more compact look, inspired by Yamaha’s motocross bikes, with a new LED headlight, a re-designed fuel tank, a separated seat unit, and an acoustic amplifier grille. Powered by the latest version of the 890cc, three-cylinder, four-valve DOHC liquid-cooled, EU5+ CP3 engine, the naked is sure to deliver torquey acceleration along with a distinctive triple soundtrack.

The new MT-09 is available in three colours: Storm Fluro, Icon Blue, and Tech Black. While the new MT-09 SP variant adds upgraded fully-adjustable suspension, top-spec Brembo Stylema brake calipers, an extra customisable Track riding mode, R1M superbike-inspired livery, and a new ‘Smart Key’ keyless ignition system.

The new MT-09 is expected to hit the NZ in early 2024, with prices to be announced closer to the launch date.
