New Zealand motocross and supercross fans are in for one of the biggest nights the sport has seen on home soil, with current AMA Supercross 450SX Champion Ken Roczen confirmed to race at Auckland’s North Harbour Stadium on October 31.

The German superstar will headline the New Zealand round of the Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship presented by Monster Energy, but for Kiwi fans, there may be just as much excitement surrounding the return of local hero Cole Davies.

The event marks the return of stadium supercross to New Zealand for the first time since 2019 and promises what organisers believe will be the strongest international rider line-up ever assembled in the country.

Dream homecoming for Davies

While Roczen’s name will attract worldwide attention, Auckland fans will also witness one of New Zealand’s brightest motorcycle racing talents returning home after an incredible breakthrough season in the United States.

Still just 18 years old, North Shore-born Cole Davies has rapidly become one of the hottest prospects in world supercross after claiming the 2026 AMA Supercross 250SX East Championship. Riding for the powerhouse Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha team, Davies has impressed throughout his rookie campaign with blistering speed, race wins and a level of maturity beyond his years.

The Auckland event will be particularly special for the teenager, with North Harbour Stadium located only minutes from where he first learned to ride.

Having already established himself as one of New Zealand’s most exciting motorcycle exports, Davies now appears destined to follow in the footsteps of fellow Kiwi international stars such as Ben Townley and Josh Coppins, with many already tipping him as a future premier-class contender in America.

Roczen’s remarkable comeback

Sharing the gate with Davies will be one of the sport’s biggest modern legends.

Ken Roczen arrives in Auckland fresh from winning the 2026 AMA Supercross 450SX Championship, completing one of the greatest comeback stories in recent motocross history.

After suffering a horrific arm injury in 2017 that many believed would end his career, Roczen endured multiple surgeries, years of rehabilitation and countless setbacks before finally returning to the top of the sport.

“Winning the AMA Supercross Championship this year was one of the proudest moments of my career,” Roczen said.

“It’s been a long journey to get back to the top and something I never take for granted. New Zealand has always had passionate Supercross fans and I’m excited to be heading to Auckland for AUSX. Racing alongside riders like Cole Davies and competing in front of Kiwi fans is going to be something special.”

Stadium spectacular returns

North Harbour Stadium will be transformed into a purpose-built supercross venue using more than 6,000 tonnes of dirt, with organisers promising a full-scale entertainment experience featuring freestyle motocross, pyrotechnics, music, rider appearances and fan activations.

The event will also include a two-day Fan Festival across the Halloween weekend, with further international rider announcements expected over the coming months.

AUSX CEO Adam Bailey believes Roczen’s appearance elevates the Auckland event to another level.

“Being able to secure an icon like Ken Roczen to compete in Auckland for his first and potentially last time is such an amazing honour,” Bailey said.

“For fans of the sport and anyone interested in witnessing one of the world’s best dirt bike riders, this may be the only opportunity to see him race on New Zealand soil.”

With one of the greatest riders of the modern era lining up alongside one of New Zealand’s fastest-rising stars, Auckland’s return to the international supercross calendar is shaping up to be an unmissable night for motocross fans.

Additional international riders are expected to be announced in the lead-up to the October 31 event.
