MV Agusta Dragster RC Unveiled

MV AGUSTA DRAGSTER 800 GETS RC TREATMENT

The Reparto Corse department of MV Agusta has been busy, with the company pulling the covers off the latest bike to bear the RC moniker, the Dragster 800 RC.

The RC acronym stands for Reparto Corse and means race department in the Italian firm’s native language. The denotation marks a stunning range of MV’s all bearing the number 37 – making reference to the number of constructor’s world championships the firm has claimed.

Along with the iconic tri-colour Reparto Corse paint scheme, MV has also announced a number of subtle tweaks to the engine of the Dragster 800 RC for 2018.

Fuelling has been improved with a new engine map which MV says has been specifically developed for the updated RC. Along with the better fuelling, other electronic developments come in the form of improvements to the 8-stage traction control system, while the quickshifter receives an update to make gear changes smoother and more progressive.

As with the F3 range – which also recently received an update – the RC will feature a completely new shifter with new gear dogs. The Dragster 800 RC will also share noise reducing engine covers with the F3, with MV claiming increased engine protection should there be an impact.

Gearing has also been looked at, with tweaks to help reduce noise emissions across the board, and also help to reduce wear to the 798cc inline triple.

Primary gearing has been reconfigured, along with the gearing of the oil and water pump, while a new harmonic damper helps make the ride smoother by reducing engine vibrations. MV has also enhanced the starter motor assembly, with the internal mechanics getting a refresh to help improve overall longevity.
