BMW S1000RR receives new colour option for 2027

BMW has updated the S1000RR for the 2027 model year, introducing a fresh Blackstorm Metallic/M Motorsport paint scheme for international markets. The new finish is exclusive to the M Sport variant, giving the litre-class superbike a look that closely mirrors the flagship M1000RR homologation special. Buyers opting for the M Package will also receive lightweight forged wheels as standard.

Mechanically, the S1000RR remains unchanged. Power comes from the familiar 999cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine with BMW’s ShiftCam variable valve timing technology, producing 206.5bhp at 13,750rpm and 113Nm of torque at 11,000rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox featuring a bi-directional quickshifter.

BMW continues to equip the S1000RR with a comprehensive electronics package. Standard features include traction control with Slide Control, ABS Pro with Brake Slide Assist, Hill Start Control, Launch Control, Pit Lane Limiter, and four riding modes comprising Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race.

Race Pro 1, 2 and 3 modes remain optional on the Standard and Pro variants, while they are fitted as standard to the M Sport model. These modes also unlock advanced functions such as DTC Slide Control and Brake Slide Assist, allowing riders greater adjustability for track use. The chassis continues to use a lightweight aluminium bridge frame suspended by electronically adjustable Marzocchi front forks, while braking duties are handled by Nissin calipers. The M Sport variant also retains its weight-saving upgrades, including carbon-fibre wheels, carbon heel plates and a lightweight battery, reducing overall weight by 3.5kg compared with the standard model.

Apart from the new colour option and equipment packaging, the 2027 BMW S1000RR carries over unchanged, with the updates focused on keeping the superbike visually fresh while retaining its proven performance package.
