Norton introduces new Atlas and Atlas GT ADV

  • Comes with a 585cc, parallel-twin engine
  • Loaded with modern rider aids
  • Likely launch by early 2026

Alongside its headline-grabbing 206hp Manx R superbike, Norton used the EICMA show to introduce two more accessible models, the Atlas and Atlas GT adventure bikes.

The company unveiled four new motorcycles in total, signalling a fresh direction for the revived British brand and a move beyond its retro-inspired past. One of these was the Manx Supernaked, which shares the same engine and power as the fully-faired Manx R.

While Norton has revealed full details of the Manx R, information on the Atlas pair is still limited. What’s clear so far is that the Atlas and Atlas GT are closely related, differing mainly in wheel setup. The standard Atlas runs on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels, aimed at light off-road use, while the Atlas GT swaps these for 17-inch alloy wheels better suited to the road.

Norton Atlas and Atlas GT

Norton describes the Atlas as a “British Army knife” of motorcycles, designed to blend rugged ability with modern design for riders who like a bit of adventure in everyday rides. The Atlas GT, meanwhile, is said to combine long-distance comfort and sleek styling, ideal for both commuting and touring.

Visually, both bikes carry a strong resemblance to classic all-rounders like the Honda XL650V Transalp, balancing simplicity with practicality. The look may not appeal to everyone, but it certainly helps Norton stand apart from more conventional adventure bikes.

Power comes from a 585cc parallel-twin engine with a 270-degree crankshaft, though Norton hasn’t shared exact figures yet. For reference, other bikes in this segment, like QJMotor’s 554cc SRT 600 S, produce around 55bhp and 40lb-ft of torque, suggesting similar performance for the Atlas models. Both bikes feature Bybre brake calipers (a Brembo sub-brand), pointing toward a competitive price bracket, likely to challenge mid-range adventure bikes from Asia.

In terms of tech, the Atlas and Atlas GT are loaded with modern rider aids, including cornering ABS, traction and slide control, hill-start assist, wheelie control, and cruise control. Heated grips and seat, a USB-C port, keyless ignition, and LED lighting with cornering lights also come as standard.

A large 8-inch TFT display handles all settings and supports smartphone connectivity through Norton’s app, offering navigation, calls, and media control. Norton says the Atlas range will reach showrooms in early 2026. Will it make its way to NZ and AUS then? Only time will tell…
