Triumph likely to expand its 400cc range this year with two new models

  • Expected to add two new models
  • Likely to introduce Bonneville 400
  • Showcase at 2025 EICMA

Triumph introduced the 400cc range with the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X a few years ago. Over time, these models have shown huge success for the brand, contributing to a 64 per cent increase in global sales in 2024. While Triumph already launched the Scrambler 400 XC and Thruxton 400 in global markets, it is expected to add two new models to the range by the end of 2025.

One of these models is likely to be the Bonneville 400, which will follow its bigger siblings in terms of styling and heritage. This will also add proper retro flavour that the 400cc range currently misses out on. And with the Bonneville name, Triumph will look to take on Royal Enfield directly.

Royal Enfield has built a thriving business around modern classics that echo the past while relying on up-to-date engineering. Models such as the Interceptor 650, Classic 650, and Bullet 350 combine timeless styling with reliable performance, while the smaller Classic 350 appeals to riders looking for affordable heritage charm. The latter has also been crowned the highest-selling sub-500cc motorcycle for years. A Triumph Bonneville 400 could compete directly with bikes like that, offering the same sense of tradition with Triumph’s own interpretation.

Triumph has long been celebrated for its Bonneville range, which remains one of the most recognised names in motorcycling. Adding a 400cc version would not only strengthen its position in the modern-classic market but also give it a direct rival to Royal Enfield’s hugely popular middleweights.

Whether Triumph moves ahead with this idea will likely be revealed later in the year, with many expecting announcements at EICMA. Until then, speculation around a Bonneville 400 is set to continue building.
