- Ultraviolette Shockwave introduced
- Gets 14.5bhp motor and 165km range
- No word about its international launch yet
The question about electric vehicles being the future may still have mixed opinions but it is interesting to see how some manufacturers are trying to reinvent the wheel. One such example is Ultraviolette- an Indian electric motorcycle brand that is backed by TVS Motor Company, the same manufacturer that has joined hands with BMW to bring out the G310R, G310 GS and the upcoming F450 GS too.
Ultraviolette has recently revealed the Shockwave electric enduro bike with a price tag that translates to $3,520 NZD. For the first 1,000 customers, the Shockwave will cost roughly $3,017 NZD. While the company already has the F77 street motorcycle, the Shockwave is based on a new platform and is a street-legal off-road enduro machine.

Powering the bike is a 14.5bhp electric motor with a 4kWh battery pack that offers an IDC range of 165km on a full charge and can go from 0-60kmph in 2.9 seconds. The motor offers a peak torque of 505Nm and a top-speed of 120kmph. The stats show that the Ultraviolette Shockwave weighs 120kg, which should be fun and engaging to ride.
As for features, it comes with four traction control modes, six levels of dynamic regen and switchable dual-channel ABS. It rides on a 19/17-inch wire spoke wheel combo and dual-sport tyres. And the brand is offering it in two colours- Cosmic Black and Frost White.

While Ultraviolette is present in the European market, it will be interesting to see if it plans to bring in the motorcycle to Australia and New Zealand that has a strong market for this category. Nonetheless, the brand is looking to commence deliveries only early next year.
