Honda has unveiled a significantly updated CRF off-road range for the 2027 model year, headlined by major revisions to the CRF450R and CRF450RX, as well as the introduction of two new HRC Works Edition models. The updates span engine, chassis, electronics and styling, with Honda claiming substantial performance gains across its flagship motocross and enduro platforms.
At the heart of the revised CRF450R and CRF450RX sits a heavily reworked 449.5cc single-cylinder engine. Honda says the new powerplant produces around 10 per cent more power and four per cent more torque than its predecessor, while the motocross-focused CRF450R sees slightly higher improvements of 10.3 per cent and 3.7 per cent, respectively.

The engine has been comprehensively redesigned with a larger bore, shorter stroke, bigger intake and exhaust valves, plus a new piston and camshaft. Honda has also revised the transmission ratios to better suit the engine’s updated characteristics.
One of the standout technical additions is a world-first rubber damper-activated Back Torque Limiter (BTL) integrated into the clutch system, designed to improve control and stability during aggressive riding.
Both the CRF450R and CRF450RX share a substantially redesigned chassis that Honda claims is approximately 70 per cent new. The motorcycles receive an all-new Showa suspension package and a two-piston Nissin front brake caliper, aimed at improving handling, feedback and braking performance.

The enduro-focused CRF450RX also benefits from the same redesigned bodywork introduced on the motocross model. For the first time, it additionally adopts the titanium fuel tank previously exclusive to the CRF450R, bringing greater component commonality between the two platforms.
Honda has also upgraded the electronics package across the 450 range. The latest system includes revised versions of HRC Launch Control and Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), with calibration settings derived directly from the company’s factory racing programmes.
The updates are intended to provide riders with greater adaptability across varying track and terrain conditions while maintaining the race-focused character of the CRF platform.

Alongside the standard motorcycles, Honda has introduced a new CRF450 HRC-WE (Works Edition) model. Designed as the flagship version of the range, the HRC-WE receives a titanium header pipe, exclusive graphics package and a dedicated seat cover. Further upgrades include a bespoke Yoshimura titanium exhaust system and a Twin Air filter, both aimed at increasing peak power output.
Honda has also expanded the concept to the quarter-litre segment with the launch of a CRF250 HRC-WE, giving riders in the smaller-capacity class access to a similarly enhanced factory-inspired package.
The CRF250R and CRF250RX have also received updates for the new model year. While not as extensive as the changes seen on the 450s, the smaller-capacity models adopt the same refreshed graphics package and HRC-inspired styling. Both motorcycles continue to feature Showa suspension and a two-piston Nissin front brake setup, maintaining consistency across Honda’s off-road line-up.
For 2027, every model in the CRF range will be finished in Honda’s signature Extreme Red colour scheme, complemented by newly designed HRC graphics that reinforce the connection between the production motorcycles and the brand’s factory racing efforts.
