Action Heats Up at Round Two of the Auckland Motorcycle Club Series.
Perfect spring conditions greeted riders for Round Two of the 2025–26 Suzuki Auckland Motorcycle Club Series, held on the Hampton Downs National Circuit on October 19 — and the racing lived up to the weather. With tight battles, standout performances, and a few surprises, the day produced some of the best racing of the season so far.
The Senior field welcomed Rogan Chandler (BMW S1000RR) and Ashton Hughes (Triumph Daytona 675), adding further depth to the competition, and it was the BMWs of Chandler and Luca Durning who were fastest in Formula Auckland. Chandler was in hot form, setting the pace in qualifying with the only lap in the 1:04s, ahead of Luca Durning, Ray Clee, and Dave Sharp — all in the 1:05s.

When racing began, Chandler took command early, winning the first two Senior races before a DNF in Race Three opened the door for Clee and Sharp. The pair traded blows all day, ultimately finishing tied on points (81 each) to share the Formula Auckland Round win.
Leslie Dominates SuperSport 600
In SuperSport 600, Cameron Leslie (KTM RC8C) was the man to beat, taking four wins across the day. His main rival, Jesse Stroud (Kawasaki ZX-6R), showed strong pace but suffered a costly DNF in Race One, while Ashton Hughes (Daytona 675) was also immediately impactful. With just three points now separating Leslie and Stroud in the standings, Round Three is shaping up for a thriller.

Fuller and Kampenhout Shine in Intermediate

Zak Fuller (Honda CBR650RR) was clinical in the Intermediate category, sweeping all four races and leading SuperLite ahead of the Suzuki GSX-8Rs of Jesse Stroud and Ray Clee, with Nick Kampenhout (Husqvarna Vitpilen 701) right there on pace also. Meanwhile, Karl Kampenhout (Aprilia 660) now heads the SuperTwin points after Nixon Frost’s absence.

In ProTwin 650, Yamaha R7 riders Cameron Leslie and Tyler King shared wins in a class stacked with over 20 riders, and the battles continued right down through the class. The Suzuki SV650s of Azlan Blackwell and Scott Findlay kept the newer R7s honest, ensuring plenty of action across the grid.

The Sidecar field was a little light on numbers. Still, Phillip Law & Angus Ravenwood on their BMW 1000-powered rig kept things entertaining, engaging in some spirited dicing with Peter Goodwin & George Vennell (LCR 1000) before easing out to take four wins on the day and extend their points lead to a healthy margin.

Cup and Junior Classes Deliver Close Racing
Among the juniors, Alyssa Boyd and Troy Fowles traded wins in ProLite 250, while Billy Macrae made an immediate impact in SuperSport 150, claiming the Round win. But Troy Stephens (R15) and Samuel Chave (R15) will take a 15-point differential into the final in a few weeks. Isabelle Smith (R15) is improving all the time also, and the 150cc combatants are providing good entertainment.

The SuperSport 300 battle is even tighter, with just one point separating Alvin Wu (Yamaha R3) and Lucas Hyslop (Kawasaki 400) after eight races, so there is everything to play for at the final.
The Carl Cox Motorsport Cup competition rounded out the day’s programme, and delivered four lively races – including their traditional Le-Mans start event for Race Two. At the end of the day, Justin Reid took home a handy 104-point lead in the Ninja Cup, having taken three wins and a second. With three Rounds still to come, though, there is a long way to go.

Scott Findlay is giving the Hyosung Cup field a riding lesson this season – unbeaten over eight races and carrying a 138-point lead into Round Three. Troy Fowles and Alyssa Boyd are engaged in an arm-wrestle over second – and like the Ninjas – there is a lot more to come in the Cup.
With just one round left — on November 16 at Hampton Downs — the 2025–26 Suzuki Auckland Motorcycle Club Series is perfectly poised for a grand finale. And the Club will also once again be giving away some serious prizes for a couple of lucky competitors, with a Suzuki GSX150F and RST Pro Series Airbag Race Suit up for grabs.
