CFMoto and Brembo team co-develop future motorcycle braking systems

CFMoto has announced a new strategic partnership with Brembo that will see the two companies jointly develop braking systems for the Chinese manufacturer’s future mid- and large-capacity motorcycles, while also expanding their collaboration into technology development and motorsport.

According to CFMoto, the agreement goes beyond a conventional supplier relationship. Instead of simply sourcing brake components, both companies will work together from the early stages of research and development to create braking systems tailored to specific motorcycle platforms. The partnership will also cover brand development and technical talent cultivation.

The move is a logical one, considering Brembo already supplies braking systems to many premium motorcycles across the industry. While some manufacturers, such as KTM, have begun developing their own in-house brake systems through WP, Brembo remains one of the world’s leading names in high-performance motorcycle braking.

The two companies are no strangers to each other either. CFMoto currently competes in both the Moto2 and Moto3 World Championships, where Brembo supplies braking systems throughout the Grand Prix paddock. That existing racing relationship is expected to help accelerate development of future production-bike technology.

By working together from the outset of the design process, CFMoto and Brembo aim to optimise braking performance for different motorcycle categories rather than adapting a one-size-fits-all solution. The result should be braking systems better matched to each model’s intended purpose, whether it’s a sportbike, adventure motorcycle or roadster.

While neither company has announced which upcoming models will benefit first, the partnership signals CFMoto’s continued push towards more premium products, with braking performance set to become an even greater focus across its future line-up.
