Kicking off the season again in style, the Auckland Motorcycle Club Championships are underway, with all of the racing taking place on Hampton Downs’ 2.7km ‘National’ Circuit. A few changes have been implemented for this season, to allow competitors an easier transition between all the different race meetings throughout the summer months.

Firstly, the AMCC Championship will be concluded well before Christmas, in advance of the Suzuki Series and the NZSBK National Championship. Following a timeline, each championship will now be concluded before the next begins.

The Carl Cox Motorsport Hyosung and Ninja Cup returns for a remarkable eighth year, with this season introducing a dual-class competition – one for the familiar 250cc Hyosung Cup, and a new Ninja Cup for the Kawasaki EX400’s. Both classes are being run as a combined grid, filling the track to capacity with 42 riders.

Other classes are as usual, with Senior, Intermediate, and Junior categories, Post-Classics, and Sidecars providing plenty of on-track entertainment for spectators on race days.

Spectator entry fees are: $15 for Adults, with Under-12 years free.

Round One was a resounding success, with plenty of action in all the classes on the 21st of October; Round Two is scheduled for the 11th of November, and Round Three happening on the 2nd of December. Race practice starts at 9am, with the racing kicking off at 11am.

Get along to Hampton Downs to show your support for local racing and witness the action for yourself!
