New KTM 790 Duke spotted on test again!

  • Comes with a revised design
  • Hardware slightly updated
  • Could be showcased later this year

The upcoming KTM 790 Duke has been spotted testing once again, and the latest spy shots reveal several noteworthy updates. Most notably, the bike appears to be getting in-house developed WP brake callipers, along with a series of design changes that bring it closer to newer models.

WP is already KTM’s in-house suspension brand, and the move to WP-developed brake callipers is likely aimed at keeping costs under control. It also fits with KTM AG’s broader strategy of increasing vertical integration across its components. These WP brake callipers were first seen on the international-spec KTM 390 Duke, and their appearance on the 790 Duke suggests that WP is expanding its braking systems beyond the sub-500cc segment.

As seen in earlier spy shots, the next-generation 790 Duke features a noticeably revised design. The front end gets a sharper, more aggressive look, with a new projector-style headlamp inspired by larger KTMs like the 990 Duke and the 1390 Super Duke R. The fuel tank and its extensions have also been redesigned and now look more sculpted and angular.

Further changes can be seen along the sides, with new panels and a revised exhaust end-can. Overall, these updates should help visually align the 790 Duke with the brand’s higher-capacity naked bikes. Mechanically, the bike is expected to remain largely unchanged. The current-generation 790 Duke uses a 799cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine producing 105bhp and 87Nm, and the same setup is likely to carry over.

KTM has not confirmed a launch timeline yet, but based on the spy shots, the bike appears close to production-ready and could be launched in the near future.
