Kawasaki revives KLE500 name for 2026 with new ADV

  • Uses a 451cc, parallel-twin engine
  • Comes with a 21/17-inch spoke wheel combo
  • No word about launch timeline yet

After more than two decades away, Kawasaki has brought back the KLE500 nameplate for 2026, unveiling a new mid-capacity adventure tourer that blends everyday usability with genuine off-road potential. The model will be available in both standard and SE versions.

Kawasaki KLE500

Built around a steel trellis frame and powered by a 451cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, the 2026 KLE500 is designed to appeal to both new A2 licence riders and seasoned adventure enthusiasts. Kawasaki says the new model carries rally-inspired styling and a host of details borrowed from its KX off-road range, giving it a purposeful, dirt-ready look.

Visually, the KLE500 follows a traditional adventure bike format, featuring a tall, flat windscreen above a compact 16-litre fuel tank. The slim bodywork draws influence from Kawasaki’s enduro and motocross machines, with flat side panels that enhance mobility both on-road and off. LED lighting is fitted front and rear as standard.

Riders will be able to choose between four seat configurations, with the standard setup sitting at 860mm. Optional low and flat seats will accommodate shorter riders or those who prefer more movement on the saddle. The adjustable riding position has been designed for comfort when seated or standing, and the windscreen can be repositioned between three height settings while riding.

Kawasaki has retained the original KLE’s 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup, prioritising versatility and accessibility over extreme off-road geometry. This should make the KLE more manageable than hardcore rivals such as the KTM 890 Adventure R, Yamaha Ténéré 700 or Honda Africa Twin. Suspension is handled by specially developed KYB cartridge-type USD forks and a Uni-Trak rear shock, though exact specifications on travel and adjustability are yet to be released.

Braking comes via front and rear discs, with selectable ABS that can be switched off for off-road use. The higher-spec SE variant adds a number of upgrades, including LED indicators, a full-colour TFT display, larger windscreen, hand guards and a sump guard. Both trims are compatible with Kawasaki’s smartphone connectivity system, enabling navigation, ride logging and voice command integration.

Kawasaki has also confirmed an extensive accessories range for the new KLE500, featuring panniers, a top box, heated grips, a USB-C outlet, engine guards, fog lamps and an Akrapovič titanium exhaust for European buyers. That said, there no word about its global launch timeline yet.
