Honda unveils new CB1000F Concept and SE at Suzuka 8 Hours

  • Honda CB1000F Concept and SE unveiled
  • Pays homage to the CB900F
  • No word about production model yet

Honda has unveiled the CB1000F Concept at the Suzuka 8 Hours, alongside a higher-spec SE variant of the forthcoming retro-styled naked bike.

The CB1000F shares much of its technical make-up with the recently launched CB1000 Hornet, including the frame, swingarm and suspension. From the press images released, it appears the CB1000F forgoes the Hornet SP’s exhaust valve and high-performance Brembo brakes, instead using the slightly lower-spec Nissin stoppers found on the standard Hornet.

Where the CB1000F stands apart is in its styling. Honda has dressed the new model in bold, blocky bodywork that pays homage to the CB900F of the 1980s, bringing a strong dose of retro appeal. That throwback theme is taken further with the SE variant. Mechanically, it mirrors the standard F, but gains a handful of distinctive details. Chief among them is a headlight cowl and flyscreen reminiscent of the CB1000 Super Four T2 of the mid-1990s, paired with a robust stainless steel radiator guard.

The SE also benefits from a higher technical specification, with a quickshifter fitted as standard. If it’s the same unit used on the Hornet SP, it will offer slick clutchless up- and downshifts across a wide range of speeds. Additional kit includes heated grips and a more luxuriously upholstered seat.

For now, both the CB1000F and SE remain officially listed as concepts. However, given Honda’s heavy promotion—both online and with live on-track demos at Suzuka—it seems likely they’ll be making production reality soon. Whether they make their way to the UK and Europe remains to be seen, but there’s plenty of reason to be hopeful.
