- New Thruxton 400 based on Speed 400
- Gets the same base as the other models
- Could come to NZ and AUS in early 2026
Triumph Motorcycles has released a teaser video on Instagram confirming the official debut of the upcoming Thruxton 400, set for August 6. The clip gives us a glimpse of the bike from the rear quarter and front angles, though it’s shot with a soft focus that leaves much to the imagination.
Interestingly, the teaser comes from Triumph’s Indian division, hinting that this model might be exclusive to Asian markets, at least initially. There’s still no confirmation on when it would be introduced in Australia or New Zealand, although we have seen quite a bit of interest on our social networks.

The Thruxton 400 will become the fourth model in Triumph’s growing 400cc family, joining the Scrambler 400 X, Speed 400, and the recently announced Scrambler 400 XC. This latest addition is likely to be the sportiest of the lot, potentially commanding a slight premium over its siblings.
In terms of performance, we don’t expect any changes to the engine output, which sits around 40bhp, just below the A2 licence limit. That would make it compliant across multiple markets without needing detuning. Spy shots of the Thruxton 400 in testing suggest it borrows its suspension and brake setup from the Speed 400. While tuning and damping might vary slightly, its overall chassis dynamics are expected to remain close to the sweet-handling character of the Speed 400.
Further investigation into one of the test bikes featured in the teaser—identified via registration number BX72FMF—reveals it’s a black, 400cc Triumph that was first registered in 2022. That timeline suggests the Thruxton 400 has been in development for over two years, longer than initially assumed.
