New Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear 650 finally revealed!

  • Based on the Interceptor 650
  • Gets a scrambler styling
  • Could be launched in NZ early next year
Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear 650

The Bear 650’s fuel tank is the same as the motorcycle it is based on. However, the rest of it is different. The side panels come with a retro-style race number plate while the rear is petite, and gets a basic grab rail and a round LED tail lamp. Other changes include a shorter and stubbier exhaust canister, different mounts for the LED headlamp and new indicators. For its scrambler appeal, it has a scrambler-style seat, handlebar brace, and spoke wheels. Moreover, it rides on off-road tyres but there aren’t any tubeless options on offer, as standard.

As for components, the Royal Enfield Bear 650 uses Showa upside down forks also seen on the Shotgun 650. It comes with more travel than the Interceptor with different internals and as a result the Bear has a taller seat height. Brakes are from the Interceptor although with a larger disc brake.

Now, the 650cc, parallel-twin engine has been revised, too. It churns out 47bhp like the Interceptor but with 57Nm of torque, it offers 5Nm more than the Interceptor 650. Moreover, the motorcycle comes with a two-in-one exhaust system that contributes to the slight drop in weight. As for features, it gets a switchable ABS that can be switched off at the rear wheel and an offset full-colour TFT screen with an inbuilt navigation system.

Royal Enfield is offering the Interceptor Bear 650 in five colour options and is expected to launch the bike on 5 November.
