New Zealand’s leading auction house, Webb’s, is calling on motorcycle collectors and enthusiasts to submit machines for its upcoming Collectors’ Cars, Motorcycles & Automobilia online auction, marking the company’s return to a motorcycle-only sale for the first time in more than a decade.

The online auction will run from 30 March to 13 April 2026, with bidding open throughout the two-week period. Motorcycles included in the catalogue will be available for public viewing from 9–13 April.

Best known in collector circles for its high-profile classic car auctions and rare automotive memorabilia sales, Webb’s has steadily built a reputation for achieving strong results with historic motorcycles as well. The upcoming event aims to capitalise on that momentum while offering a dedicated platform focused solely on two-wheeled machines.

“In the spirit of New Zealand’s intense love affair with motorcycles and our own heritage of bringing first class auctions to enthusiasts, Webb’s Collectors’ Cars, Motorcycles & Automobilia is excited to announce an online auction taking place over two weeks in 2026,” says the auction house.

“This auction will represent the premier auction house’s return to a purely two-wheeled offering for the first time in over a decade.”

Strong Results Driving Demand

Webb’s recent motorcycle sales have already demonstrated strong demand from collectors.

Between 2023 and 2025, the auction house sold more than 50 motorcycles, achieving close to $1 million in total sales and an impressive sell-through rate exceeding 80 per cent.

1963 Honda CB77 Super Hawk – $7,187.50

Those results reflect growing interest in both classic British machinery and iconic Japanese motorcycles, two segments that continue to attract collectors across New Zealand and internationally.

“Among the standout machines expected in the catalogue are the 1927 Scott Flying Squirrel and 1935 Brough Superior MX80, with a number of motorcycles offered without reserve, giving bidders the opportunity to secure rare pieces of motorcycling history.”

Webb’s Seeking Consignments

With the catalogue still being finalised, Webb’s is actively seeking additional motorcycles to include in the sale.

The auction house is particularly interested in machines from classic British marques such as Triumph, BSA, Matchless and AJS as well as Japanese icons like Honda and Suzuki, and Italian exotics including Ducati and MV Agusta.

Owners considering selling are encouraged to submit their motorcycles now, as marketing for the auction is already underway and bidding opens at the end of March.

Webb’s specialists provide confidential appraisals and can advise sellers on how best to position their motorcycle for the sale.

“With marketing underway and bidding opening 30 March, time is of the essence,” the auction house says.
