- Suzuki GSX-8R-based touring model in the works
- Would compete against Yamaha Tracer 9 and Tiger Sport 660
- Launch likely by the end of 2025
Suzuki appears to be preparing a new middleweight touring motorcycle based on its GSX-8R platform, according to a recently surfaced overseas type-approval document. The filing lists two model names — GSX-8T and GSX-8TT — which are likely to represent two variants of the same upcoming machine.
Technical specifications outlined in the document indicate that the new models will produce 81.8bhp and 78Nm of torque, matching the output of the current GSX-8R. This suggests that the GSX-8T will make use of the same 776cc parallel-twin engine that powers not only the GSX-8R, but also the GSX-8S and V-Strom 800. However, Suzuki may alter the engine’s fueling and gearing to suit touring characteristics better.
Based on the model designation and current lineup positioning, the GSX-8T is expected to be a road-focused sport-touring bike. It would likely compete with models like the Yamaha Tracer 9 and Triumph Tiger Sport 660, offering a slightly taller stance akin to adventure-style machines, but running on 17-inch alloy wheels, which signal an on-road rather than off-road intent.

These types of motorcycles typically aim to deliver similar engine performance to their naked and sportbike counterparts, but with added rider comfort, wind protection, and touring practicality. In terms of design, the GSX-8T may draw cues from Suzuki’s larger touring model, the GSX-S1000GX, particularly in terms of fairing shape and ergonomic layout. The “TT” version is expected to be a higher-spec trim, possibly featuring upgraded electronics, suspension, or rider aids.
While Suzuki has yet to make an official announcement, both the GSX-8T and GSX-8TT are anticipated to be unveiled publicly at the EICMA show in Milan this November, where full details on specifications and features are likely to be confirmed.
