- Engine similar to Himalayan 750
- Could be introduced at 2025 EICMA
Royal Enfield appears to be expanding the horizons of its popular Continental GT, as new spy shots have surfaced revealing what looks to be a 750cc version of the iconic café racer. Though official details remain under wraps, this latest development marks a significant step forward for the brand as it looks to meet modern demands without sacrificing the character that made the GT a fan favourite.
According to reports, the motorcycle seen in recent images is likely a new 750cc variant of the Continental GT. While no technical data accompanies the leak, what’s visually apparent is that the engine closely resembles the one spotted in the Himalayan 750 prototype, which has also been undergoing testing. This strongly suggests that Royal Enfield is developing a new platform to underpin multiple models, a move that would make strategic and economic sense.

The decision to upsize the engine appears to be a response to tightening global emissions regulations. By increasing displacement, Royal Enfield can maintain, or even improve, performance while ensuring compliance with stricter certification standards. This balance is critical, especially for brands like Royal Enfield that pride themselves on offering bikes with accessible power and timeless appeal.
Beyond the engine, the rest of the bike stays true to the current-generation Continental GT design language. Classic touches like twin shock absorbers, ByBre brake calipers, cartridge forks, and the bench seat all carry over, preserving the retro look that has defined the model for years. However, one notable addition is the café-racer-style front fairing seen on the test bike, though some believe this could be a decoy used to disguise the prototype’s underpinnings.

More revealing is the presence of a lambda sensor just past the exhaust manifold, a feature not found on the existing model. Its inclusion likely indicates ongoing emissions testing, with the sensor feeding data to a series of loggers and recording devices strapped to the pillion area of the bike. This points to an advanced stage of development, suggesting the motorcycle is being fine-tuned for regulatory compliance and production readiness.
And that’s exactly what the latest images imply- a bike nearing production. While Royal Enfield has yet to confirm a launch date, both the Continental GT 750 and the Himalayan 750 could make their official debuts at EICMA 2025 this November.
