Royal Enfield Bear 650-based Fury 650 Custom revealed

  • Based on the Bear 650 scrambler
  • Gets retro, desert-racer-inspired styling
  • Will not go on sale

Barcelona-based custom workshop Fuel Motorcycles has taken the wraps off its latest creation, the Fury 650—a bold, nostalgic tribute to 1960s desert racing machines. Based on the Royal Enfield Bear 650, this custom build was developed in close collaboration with Royal Enfield and fellow Spanish outfit Bandarra Motorcycles.

Fury 650

Designed as an homage to the legendary Fury 500, famously ridden by Eddie Mulder during the iconic 1960 Big Bear Run, the Fury 650 captures the spirit of classic scramblers with a modern twist. While the base frame and engine remain untouched, several key components have been reimagined to evoke the rugged charm of vintage off-roaders.

The most notable mechanical update is a custom free-flow exhaust system, designed to deliver a more aggressive and resonant sound profile compared to the stock unit. Complementing this is a new 21-17-inch cross-spoke wheel setup, replacing the standard 19-17-inch configuration. The larger front wheel, paired with Mitas knobby tyres, boosts the Fury’s off-road capabilities and authentic scrambler stance.

Further cementing its rally roots, Fuel has replaced the modern TFT display with a rally-style navigation setup, including a road book and analogue-style switches, much like the setups found on Dakar-ready machines. The aesthetic is further enhanced by custom front and rear fenders, dual round headlamps with a protective tubular cage, bespoke handlebar, purpose-built seat, and new knuckle guards.

Fury 650

Visually, the Fury 650 stands out with a striking red and white livery, complete with special decals that nod to its desert racing lineage. Every design element is carefully chosen to pay tribute to a bygone era of grit and glory.

While the Fuel Fury 650 is a one-off custom build and won’t see a production run, it serves as a source of inspiration for Bear 650 owners and custom motorcycle enthusiasts alike. It’s a bold reminder that with the right vision and craftsmanship, even a modern twin-cylinder can be transformed into a machine worthy of the dunes.
