Norton Motorcycles has revealed a new 450cc Urban Roadster concept, marking the fifth model in the British manufacturer’s ongoing brand revival. The motorcycle is yet to receive an official name, but Norton has confirmed that a production version is planned for 2027, with sales expected to begin towards the end of the year.
At the heart of the new roadster is a 454cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing a claimed 45Nm of torque. Norton has not disclosed further details about the engine’s construction or its power output, but says it has been developed with responsiveness and accessibility as priorities. The concept could also feature modern rider aids such as ride-by-wire, traction control and selectable riding modes, although these have not yet been confirmed.
The engine sits within an aluminium frame, which appears to follow a twin-spar layout with a compact rear subframe. Suspension consists of upside-down front forks and a centrally mounted rear monoshock, while an expected eight-inch TFT display should bring smartphone connectivity and other modern features to the cockpit.
Norton has not released a complete technical specification or confirmed how much of the concept’s design will carry over to the production motorcycle. However, its single-cylinder configuration places it in a competitive middleweight roadster category. Once launched, the Urban Roadster 450 will go up against established models such as the KTM 390 Duke R and Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450. It could also face competition from twin-cylinder alternatives, including the Aprilia Tuono 457 and the BMW F 450 R.
