New Kawasaki Z1100 in the works; launch likely at EICMA 2025

  • Kawasaki working on new Z1100
  • Filed patents in America
  • To get bigger engine, new features

Kawasaki recently updated its touring motorcycle- the Ninja 1100 with a bigger engine and features, and is reportedly working on updating one of its most successful litre-class bikes, the Z1000, which was taken off the shelves globally due to the stringent emission norms.

The brand has filed patents at the California Air Resources Board (CARB) in America that is essentially a database of machines that records the level of pollution emitted while in use. That said, it could use the same 1099cc, inline-four engine as the other 1100 models in Kawasaki’s stable. Other than the bump in displacement, we can also expect an update in terms of features. It could come with a full-colour TFT display with connectivity, multiple ride modes, traction control and cornering ABS. It is also likely to come with a semi-active suspension and top-spec Brembo braking setup.

Furthermore, we can expect Kawasaki to revise the styling and design on the Z1100. Well, the design of the Z1000 was already ahead of its time so it would be interesting to see what Kawasaki has in the works.

While other features and details are still under wraps, we would have more information on the motorcycle closer to its launch date. We expect Kawasaki to introduce the updated motorcycle by the end of the year at the 2025 EICMA show. Once launched, it would take on rivals like the Ducati Streetfighter V2, BMW S1000R, Suzuki GSX-S1000, Yamaha MT-10 and the Honda Hornet CB1000.
