Kawasaki has added an unexpected model to its lineup with the launch of the Stockman, a rugged, utility-focused motorcycle aimed squarely at agricultural use. Priced at $7,999, the Stockman is being offered exclusively in Australia and New Zealand, at least for now.

Rather than targeting recreational riders, Kawasaki has designed the Stockman specifically for farmers, ranchers and rural workers who need a simple, durable machine for day-to-day tasks. Its compact proportions and stripped-back styling reflect that purpose, prioritising function over flair.
Powering the Stockman is a 233cc air-cooled, fuel-injected single-cylinder engine producing 18.7bhp at 7,600rpm and 19.9Nm of torque at 6,100rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, providing flexibility across both low-speed work and open terrain.

Despite its no-nonsense appearance, the Stockman includes several practical features intended to make life easier in rural environments. One standout is a clutch lever locking mechanism, which allows the rider to hold the bike in gear without continuously pulling the clutch, useful when stopping and starting on uneven ground.
Protection is another key focus. Aluminium lever guards are fitted as standard to help prevent damage when riding near fences or through overgrown areas. Engine protectors are also included, along with a rear cargo rack, reinforcing the bike’s work-oriented role.
Suspension is conventional but appropriate for the bike’s intended use. A 37mm telescopic fork handles front suspension duties, while a rear monoshock offers spring preload adjustment. Wheel sizes are set at 21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear, a common combination for stability on loose or uneven surfaces.

Braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends. Front wheel travel measures 158mm, with the rear offering slightly more at 168mm, helping the Stockman cope with rough terrain and unsealed tracks.
In terms of dimensions, the Stockman has an estimated dry weight of 130kg, a seat height of 845mm and ground clearance of 220mm. Fuel capacity is rated at 7.5 litres, which should be sufficient for typical farm or station use between refills. While it may not resemble Kawasaki’s more familiar road or adventure models, the Stockman represents a clear shift toward purpose-built utility, targeting riders who value durability, simplicity and practicality above all else.
