MV Agusta Unveils Limited Edition Superveloce 1000 Ago

  • Limited to just 83 units
  • Gets host of special components and features
  • No word about AUS or NZ allocation yet

MV Agusta has officially pulled the wraps off the Superveloce 1000 Ago, a stunning retro-inspired superbike that pays homage to 15-time Grand Prix world champion Giacomo Agostini. The launch continues the brand’s tradition of commemorating iconic racing heritage through limited-edition machines, and this one holds special significance — it celebrates Ago’s 83rd birthday, with just 83 units available worldwide.

Built upon the striking lines of the Superveloce 1000, the Ago edition comes with a host of exclusives. Each of the 83 bikes will ship with a certificate of authenticity, dedicated motorcycle cover, additional pillion seat and footpegs, carbon heel guards, and various bespoke touches.

The fairings are finished in full carbon fibre, complete with integrated front winglets and a streamlined single-seat unit, delivering a visual throwback to the golden age of GP racing while maintaining modern aerodynamic efficiency.

Adding to the collector value, each unit is individually numbered, with a real gold plate mounted on the top yoke. Visually, the bikes sport bright yellow number boards, combined with generous swathes of red and silver paint, directly inspired by Agostini’s legendary racing machines.

Impressive Engineering Beneath the Retro Shell

At a dry weight of 209kg, the Superveloce 1000 Ago remains light for a litre-class bike wrapped in full fairings. The engine pushes out a claimed 205.2bhp at 13,000rpm, and 116.6Nm of torque at 11,000rpm, promising an exhilarating top-end rush matched with strong midrange drive.

The tubular steel trellis frame is bolted to a single-sided aluminium swingarm, giving it a purposeful, high-performance foundation. Suspension duties are handled by premium Öhlins components, with 43mm NIX upside-down forks up front and a TTX monoshock at the rear. Both ends offer 120mm of travel and are electronically adjustable for compression, rebound, and preload. An Öhlins electronic steering damper up front adds additional stability under hard acceleration or on uneven surfaces.

Race-Bred Exhaust and Trophy-Touched Details

The tail houses a quad-exit underseat exhaust, an unmistakable nod to the revered F4 superbike. Sections of the side fairing are cut away to expose parts of the gloss-black trellis frame, enhancing the bike’s mechanical appeal.

One of the more unique touches lies in the ignition key, which features a brass coin crafted from an actual victory trophy won by Agostini at Imola in the 500cc class – a literal piece of history embedded into every bike.

Tech and Safety: All the Modern Essentials

Despite its vintage aesthetic, the Superveloce 1000 Ago is packed with advanced electronics. The 5.5-inch TFT display serves as the control hub for a full suite of rider aids, including launch control, wheelie control, cruise control, and cornering ABS. The front is equipped with Brembo Stylema four-piston calipers gripping 320mm floating discs, with rear-lift mitigation built into the ABS system for safety under hard braking.

The bike also includes GPS functionality via the MV Ride app, alongside a Mobisat anti-theft module with a 12-month free subscription, reinforcing its blend of tech, performance, and exclusivity.

Premium Kit for Premium Owners

Each owner will also receive a made-to-measure Dainese Custom Works Demone GP 3X leather suit and a bespoke AGV Pista GP RR helmet, designed in collaboration with MV Agusta to match the styling of the Ago edition. It’s a complete racing tribute, both on and off the bike.

First New MV Under Renewed Italian Ownership

This model marks MV Agusta’s first major release since parting ways with KTM’s parent firm Pierer Mobility AG, who recently sold their 50.1% stake in MV back to former minority stakeholders, Art of Mobility S.A., earlier in 2025. The Superveloce 1000 Ago builds on the platform of the Serie Oro version, revealed in July 2024, and shares its 998cc inline-four engine with MV’s other high-performance flagships like the Rush 1000 and Brutale 1000. Aesthetically, the new model also echoes the smaller Superveloce 800, maintaining continuity in the family’s neo-retro design language.
