KTM 1390 Super Duke R to get more extreme?

  • Could be introduced as Super Duke RR
  • Expected to be lighter than the standard R model
  • Launch expected by mid-2026

A more extreme KTM Super Duke could be on the way, with reports suggesting a new 1390 Super Duke RR arriving for 2026.

For riders who find the current 1390 Super Duke R or Super Duke R Evo a little too sensible, KTM may once again be preparing a sharper, lighter RR version. While the Austrian brand has not officially confirmed the bike, several reports point to meaningful upgrades over the already uncompromising standard models.

The Super Duke RR badge is not a new addition. KTM last used it on the 1290 Super Duke RR, a limited-run machine that took the super naked concept to its limits. That bike was stripped back and reworked for performance, losing 9kg to tip the scales at around 180kg, while retaining a headline power figure of 180bhp. Weight savings came largely from carbon fibre components and lighter wheels, backed up by top-shelf suspension from WP’s Apex Pro range.

According to European type-approval information and reports from La Repaire Des Motards, the upcoming 1390 Super Duke RR could go even further. The new model is said to weigh around 10kg less than the standard bike, while power from the V-twin engine is expected to remain unchanged at 190bhp. An Akrapovič exhaust is also mentioned, which would account for part of the weight reduction.

Changes are also expected to the riding position. Reports suggest the RR will feature slightly wider handlebars, measuring 17mm more than the standard model, along with a revised stance that sits around 13mm taller and 2mm longer overall.

KTM 1390 SUPER DUKE R

Like its predecessor, the 1390 Super Duke RR is expected to be produced in limited numbers. The 1290 RR was capped at just 500 units worldwide and sold exclusively through KTM’s online reservation system, selling out rapidly. If the new RR follows the same formula, demand is likely to outstrip supply once again.

For now, KTM remains silent, but if these reports prove accurate, the 1390 Super Duke RR could become one of the most focused and desirable super nakeds of the decade.
