Kawasaki Versys 650 updated for 2025 with new colours

  • 2025 Kawasaki Versys 650 gets new colours
  • Updated emission tech
  • Could arrive in AUS and NZ by end of this year

Kawasaki has introduced the 2025 version of its ever-reliable Versys 650 tourer, for international markets. The refreshed model retains the core attributes that have made it a favourite among long-distance riders, but with slight updates.

Buyers will once again be able to choose between ‘Tourer’ and ‘Grand Tourer’ configurations, depending on their needs. For 2025, Kawasaki is introducing new colour options, including black, silver, and dark blue, giving the bike a fresh visual appeal.

Powering the updated Versys 650 is Kawasaki’s tried-and-tested 649cc parallel-twin engine, shared with the Ninja 650, Z650, Vulcan, and Z650RS. This liquid-cooled twin-cylinder unit remains mechanically unchanged but now meets the latest Euro5+ emissions standards. It delivers a familiar 66bhp and 61Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox—a setup renowned for its smooth power delivery, flexibility, and comfortable highway cruising ability.

Stylistically, the Versys 650 continues with its sporty and purposeful design, featuring twin LED headlights, a sharp beak-style front, a muscular fuel tank, and a compact tail section. Underneath, the bike is built around a steel frame, suspended by a USD front fork and a rear monoshock for confident handling and comfort. It rolls on 17-inch wheels, with stopping power provided by twin front discs and a single rear disc.

Interestingly, this update follows news of the larger Versys 1100 being used as the official motorcycle of the Tour de France, supporting organisers and riders throughout all 21 stages and across 2,074 miles of the iconic cycling event—a testament to the Versys platform’s capability and reliability.

We can expect Kawasaki to introduce the updated Versys 650 in Australia and New Zealand by the end of 2025.
