Limited-edition Suzuki Katana breaks cover

  • Limited to just 45 units
  • Only available for the German market now
  • Comes with a host of special accessories

Suzuki has introduced a limited-run version of its retro-inspired Suzuki Katana, with just 45 examples of the new “Limited Edition” set to be produced.

The modern Katana already draws heavily from the styling of the original Suzuki Katana 1981, carrying over its sharply creased bodywork, distinctive silver paintwork and instantly recognisable nose. For the Limited Edition model, Suzuki has added a selection of cosmetic enhancements along with a small equipment upgrade.

Visually, each motorcycle features a numbered sticker marking its place within the 45-unit production run. Additional styling details include a carbon-style tank pad, frame sliders and a blacked-out rear fairing. Suzuki has also added a black and silver decal package known as “The Edge”, designed to highlight the Katana’s angular design lines.

Buyers also receive a couple of extras alongside the bike. These include a black garage mat featuring the Katana logo and a copy of the book Katana History, which documents the evolution of the model over more than four decades.

The only mechanical change comes in the form of a new exhaust system. The Limited Edition replaces the standard silencer with a slip-on unit from Akrapovič developed specifically for the Katana. Otherwise, the chassis, engine and braking components remain unchanged.

That means the bike continues to use the 999cc inline-four engine derived from the Suzuki GSX-R1000, producing a claimed 152hp. In Katana form, the engine is tuned to deliver stronger mid-range performance rather than outright top-end power. It is paired with ride-by-wire throttle control and a range of electronic rider aids.

These include three riding modes, five-level switchable traction control through Suzuki’s STCS system, and a bidirectional quickshifter as standard. The chassis setup also carries over from the standard model, featuring an aluminium frame with suspension supplied by KYB and braking hardware from Brembo using radially mounted callipers.

Like the regular model, the electronics package includes an LCD instrument display with LED indicator lights, while the bike’s lighting system is fully LED throughout. Suzuki says the Suzuki Katana Limited Edition is available now through dealers, although it will only be offered in the German market.
