Is this the new KTM 490 Duke?

  • Spotted on test in the nascent stage
  • Comes with a single front disc
  • Likely to debut next year

KTM has been spotted testing new motorcycles in Europe recently. After the KTM Adventure was spied, new images showcase what looks like a Duke prototype.

Now, reports suggest that the test mule is the next-gen 790 Duke, however, it is likely to be the replacement for the 390 instead. While the bike isn’t wearing any camouflage, nor does it have many body panels, it reveals quite a few details. One of the biggest giveaways that it could be a smaller capacity motorcycle is the single front disc. It also comes with a new chassis and a different swingarm. Its engine has been reworked and gets a different crankcase cover too. Adding to that, there is the new cat converter, a bigger expansion chamber and a new exhaust system.

Since the prototype is still in its nascent stage, it is only likely to debut in 2026 and go on sale, possibly, in 2027. However, it will be interesting to see how KTM replaces the new-gen 390 Adventure range that was launched only earlier this year.
