- Likely unveil at EICMA
- Rumoured to have an output of 111bhp
- Could be launched in NZ next year
CFMoto could soon make its boldest move yet into the big-bore adventure motorcycle segment, with reports suggesting the Chinese manufacturer is preparing to unveil the all-new 1000 MT-X at this year’s EICMA show in Milan.
If confirmed, the new flagship would see CFMoto go head-to-head with heavyweights such as BMW’s R1300 GS and Honda’s CRF1100L Africa Twin, marking a significant step up for the brand’s global ambitions.

While official details remain scarce, a teaser campaign on social media has already sparked speculation. The images show what appears to be an aggressively styled front fairing, suggesting the MT-X could blend sporty road manners with long-haul touring intent. Rumours indicate that this could be more than just one big-bore reveal, though the 1,000cc adventure bike remains the star attraction for now.
Early reports suggest the MT-X may feature an inline three-cylinder engine, a first for the brand’s adventure lineup. CFMoto’s existing models already share strong engineering ties with KTM, using engines built under licence in China. The smaller 800 MT-X, for example, is powered by a CFMoto-built version of KTM’s 790cc parallel twin.
That said, CFMoto is no stranger to triples; it already offers a 675cc three-cylinder engine in the 675NK naked sport bike, meaning the jump to a litre-class triple would be a logical next step.

Exact specifications are yet to be confirmed, but early whispers point to an output of around 111bhp, positioning the 1000 MT-X closer to the Honda Africa Twin and NT1100 than the more powerful class leaders like Ducati’s Multistrada V4 or KTM’s 1390 Super Adventure.
Whether CFMoto’s latest project can truly rival the European giants remains to be seen. But if the teasers are anything to go by, the 1000 MT-X could represent the brand’s most ambitious and globally competitive motorcycle yet.
For now, enthusiasts will have to wait until EICMA for full confirmation, and perhaps, a glimpse of CFMoto’s next big chapter.
