CFMoto unveils new 250 CL-C; NZ launch soon?

  • CFMoto 250 CL-C launched in Australis
  • Gets a 249cc, single-cylinder engine
  • Could be launched in NZ soon

CFMoto has taken the wraps off its latest entry-level cruiser, the 250CL-C, with the essence of a “British style cruiser”, as the brand calls it. The motorcycle is currently on sale in Australia and is likely to make its way to New Zealand in the coming months.

The motorcycle shares its design DNA with the 450 CL-C that is available in New Zealand and other international markets. The 250CL-C blends modern and retro elements with a two-tone gloss-finished fuel tank, integrated round LED lighting front and rear, and a classic three-inch circular instrument cluster that combines analogue and LCD readouts. It rolls on 16-inch wheels and features a low-slung seat height of 690mm, making it accessible to riders of various heights and experience levels.

At the heart of the 250CL-C is a 249cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, producing 24.8bhp at 9,800rpm and 20Nm (of torque at 7,000rpm. Mated to a gearbox with a standard CF-SC slipper clutch, CFMoto claims the system reduces clutch lever effort by up to 30 per cent, offering smoother downshifts and less fatigue for the rider.

A wet weight of 165kg and 150mm of ground clearance contribute to the bike’s accessibility and easy maneuverability, while a 13.5-litre fuel tank ensures decent range for urban cruising or weekend rides.

Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and dual rear shocks, striking a balance between comfort and control. The braking setup is sourced from J.Juan, featuring a 300mm front disc with a four-piston caliper and a 220mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper. The bike also comes equipped with dual-channel ABS and traction control (TCS) as standard—an impressive offering in the lightweight cruiser segment.

Available in Teal Green, Nebula Black, and Velocity Grey, the 250CL-C pairs its stylish appeal with practicality. In Australia, it’s priced at AUD $7,490, which roughly translates to NZD 8,106. With its distinctive cruiser aesthetic, low weight, and competitive pricing, the CFMoto 250CL-C could be a compelling option for new riders or those seeking a relaxed, affordable cruiser—if it makes it to more markets.
