Aprilia is ramping up its LAMS offering in New Zealand, adding the new Tuono 457 and track-inspired RS 457 GP Replica while cutting the price of the standard RS 457.
Aprilia has expanded its LAMS-approved 457 range in New Zealand, with the new Tuono 457 and track-inspired RS 457 GP Replica joining an updated and cheaper RS 457.
Aprilia is strengthening its presence at the sporty end of the LAMS market, with three versions of its 457cc parallel-twin platform now arriving in New Zealand dealerships.
Perhaps the biggest news is the arrival of the Tuono 457, which brings the mechanical package of the RS 457 into a more upright naked-bike format and, at $9,990 plus ORC, becomes the most affordable model in Aprilia’s sports range.
Meanwhile, the standard RS 457 gets a permanent $400 price reduction to $10,590 plus ORC, while the new, higher-spec RS 457 GP Replica arrives at $10,990 plus ORC.
Tuono joins the 457 family
Based on the same platform as the RS 457, the new Tuono takes a more road-oriented approach with upright ergonomics and stripped-back naked-bike styling.

Its design takes inspiration from the Tuono 1000 R, with a distinctive triple LED headlight arrangement and small front spoiler replacing the RS’s sportsbike bodywork.
Power comes from Aprilia’s liquid-cooled 457cc parallel-twin producing 35kW (47.6hp) at 9400rpm and 43.5Nm at 6700rpm. Aprilia says 82 percent of that torque is available from just 3000rpm.
The engine sits within an aluminium frame – unusual in this part of the market – while dry weight is quoted at just 159kg.
Despite being the cheapest of the three 457s, the Tuono still gets a decent electronics package including ride-by-wire throttle, three riding modes, multi-level traction control and dual-channel ABS.
At $9990 plus ORC, that combination could make the Tuono particularly interesting for LAMS riders wanting something more sporting than the typical entry-level naked bike without committing to the riding position and bodywork of a full sportsbike.
RS 457 gets cheaper
There’s good news for riders who prefer the fully-faired option, too.
The standard RS 457 has received a permanent $400 price cut, bringing its NZ price down to $10,590 plus ORC.
There are also new colour options for 2026, with Coral Snake Blue and Arsenic Yellow joining the range.
GP Replica adds the good stuff
Sitting at the top of the new range is the RS 457 GP Replica, priced at $10,990 plus ORC – the same price previously asked for the standard RS 457.
The GP Replica isn’t simply a graphics package, either.
It gains a bi-directional quickshifter for clutchless up and down changes, along with higher-friction front brake pads designed to improve braking performance and feel.
Visually, it receives an Aprilia Racing-inspired gloss and matte black livery along with a blacked-out aluminium frame, swingarm and top triple clamp. A factory single-seat cowl completes the more purposeful appearance.
That makes the $400 step from the standard RS to the GP Replica look relatively small considering the additional equipment – particularly the standard quickshifter.
Three flavours, all LAMS
With the arrival of the Tuono, Aprilia now has a neat three-model progression for Kiwi LAMS riders.
The Tuono 457 costs $9,990, the RS 457 $10,590, and the RS 457 GP Replica $10,990, with all prices excluding on-road costs.
All three are arriving at authorised Aprilia dealers around New Zealand this month.
For riders wanting Italian sportsbike flavour on a learner-approved machine, there’s now considerably more choice – and with the standard RS becoming cheaper and the GP Replica adding useful performance equipment for only another $400, Aprilia looks to be making a fairly serious play for the sporty end of the LAMS market.
