Aprilia has unveiled a limited-edition RS 660 celebrating its racing history at Phillip Island, and there’s good news for Kiwi sportsbike fans: Aprilia New Zealand has confirmed a small number are coming here.

A tribute to an iconic circuit
Phillip Island has delivered some unforgettable motorcycle racing over almost three decades, and Aprilia has plenty of reasons to remember it fondly. The Italian manufacturer counts ten Grand Prix victories across the classes at the Australian circuit, alongside World Superbike success with the RSV4.

In 2025, Raúl Fernández’s Australian MotoGP victory on the RS-GP also took Aprilia to its 300th Grand Prix win across the world championship classes. With Phillip Island due to leave the MotoGP calendar from 2027, the timing of this tribute feels particularly poignant.
There was a cruel twist to this year’s event. Saturday produced some stunning racing, but appalling weather on Sunday meant there was no racing at all. Not quite the send-off anyone wanted, although at least Saturday gave fans plenty to enjoy.

Special colours, familiar performance
The Tribute stands apart with a white base colour, green fairing and tail accents and red wheels, taking inspiration from the Phillip Island Circuit logo. The track outline, circuit name and chequered flag appear on the side panels. A tank badge commemorates Aprilia’s victories there, while an individual serial number appears on the steering-head plate. A passenger-seat cover is included.

Underneath, this is the familiar RS 660 package rather than a Factory-specification machine. The 660cc parallel twin is rated at 105hp at 10,400rpm and 70Nm at 8,400rpm, with a six-axis IMU and Aprilia’s a-PRC rider aids.
That means adjustable traction control, wheelie control, engine-braking control, cornering ABS and engine maps, plus launch control, a bidirectional quickshifter and cruise control. It’s an impressive electronic package for a middleweight sportsbike.

New Zealand availability
The big local news is that Aprilia NZ has confirmed an allocation, although it has not yet specified how many examples will arrive. Pricing is also still to be announced, with the importer expecting it to fall between the regular RS 660 and RS 660 Factory.
For anyone who loves Phillip Island, Aprilia’s racing history or simply a distinctive RS 660, February could be worth marking on the calendar.
