Honda has updated the CMX500 Rebel for 2027, adding its E-Clutch technology to the popular middleweight cruiser. The 471cc parallel-twin model joins the CBR500R, CB500 Hornet and NX500 in receiving the system, leaving the CL500 scrambler as the only model on Honda’s 500cc platform without it.
The six-speed E-Clutch system allows riders to pull away, change gears and come to a stop without operating the clutch lever manually. The lever remains in place for those who prefer traditional control, but the system automatically manages clutch engagement when required, making low-speed riding and stop-start traffic easier to handle.
Alongside the new clutch technology, the 2027 CMX500 Rebel receives a more modern instrument display. Its previous minimalist LCD unit has been replaced by a 3.5-inch circular TFT dash with turn-by-turn navigation. Honda has also revised the rear shock absorber’s bump-stop rubbers, with the changes claimed to deliver a smoother ride.

The rest of the motorcycle remains mechanically unchanged. The Rebel retains its accessible 690mm seat height and produces 45.6bhp at 8,500rpm, while its peak torque output stands at 43.4Nm at 6,000rpm.
Honda has also introduced new colour options for both the standard CMX500 Rebel and the S version. The larger CMX1100 Rebel range receives colour updates as well, covering the standard model, CMX1100T Rebel and CMX1100SE Rebel.
Elsewhere in Honda’s 2027 line-up, the six-cylinder GL1800 Gold Wing family receives colour changes rather than mechanical updates. The Gold Wing Tour, for example, will be available in Iridium Gray Metallic, Graphite Black and Allumage Blue Metallic.
