Ducati has announced a series of updates for its Desmo450 MX and Desmo450 MX Factory motocross bikes for 2027, drawing on feedback gathered during the models’ first full season of racing.
First unveiled in April 2025, the Desmo450 MX marked Ducati’s entry into motocross. One of its defining features is the Desmodromic valve system, a technology more commonly associated with the Italian manufacturer’s MotoGP and Superbike machines. Around 18 months after the bikes’ original debut, Ducati has focused its latest revisions on improved durability, usability and performance.
The engine remains unchanged for 2027. The 449.6cc, single-cylinder unit continues to produce a claimed 62.6bhp at 9,400rpm and 53Nm of torque at 7,500rpm.

The standard Desmo450 MX receives several mechanical and ergonomic improvements. A new 51-tooth rear sprocket changes the final-drive ratio, with Ducati aiming to improve responsiveness when accelerating out of corners.
The gearshift and rear brake pedal tips have also been redesigned to improve ergonomics, while a larger 40mm fuel tank cap allows for quicker refuelling. The bike now runs on Pirelli Scorpion MX32 Mid-Soft tyres, measuring 80/100 × 21 at the front and 110/90 × 19 at the rear.
Ducati has also strengthened several components to improve long-term durability. These include the starter motor gear coupling, water pump oil seal, exhaust manifold connection at the silencer, chain guide support, fork slider guards and front engine-to-frame brackets. The revised water pump oil seal features updated geometry and a Teflon coating. Another addition is a predictive maintenance system, available through an optional Wi-Fi module. Instead of relying solely on fixed service intervals, the system analyses how the motorcycle is used and adjusts engine maintenance intervals accordingly.

Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory: Further Upgrades
The range-topping Desmo450 MX Factory receives all the updates introduced on the standard model, along with several additional components aimed at improving performance and reducing weight. Despite its extra equipment, Ducati claims the Factory weighs less than the standard version.

One of the main upgrades is a full titanium Akrapovič exhaust system, paired with dedicated engine mapping. The system is claimed to reduce weight by 1.7kg compared with the standard exhaust, while improving power delivery and acceleration.
The Showa suspension has also been upgraded with Dark Kashima and TiO surface treatments on both the front fork and rear shock absorber. These treatments are intended to deliver smoother operation and improved wear resistance. The Factory additionally receives triple clamps machined from solid billet to help reduce weight.
Other equipment includes a sump guard, front disc cover, RK MXU chain and a Holeshot device designed to improve starts off the line. The Factory’s Wi-Fi module also unlocks additional customisation through Ducati’s X-Link app. Riders can adjust Riding Modes, including engine response, Launch Control, engine braking and traction control, allowing the bike’s settings to be tailored to different track conditions and riding preferences.
Visually, the 2027 Desmo450 MX Factory is distinguished by new Ducati Corse graphics, highlighted by a red and black Ducati logo. With the engine specifications remaining unchanged, Ducati’s latest revisions concentrate on refining the Desmo450 MX platform through improved durability, revised gearing and additional equipment. The Factory version takes this further with its lightweight titanium exhaust, upgraded suspension treatments and expanded electronic customisation.
