Ducati working on new Diavel V4 S

  • Design patents filed in Europe
  • Could get semi-active suspension
  • Likely to be launched this year

A new S version of the Ducati Diavel V4 seems to be in the works. Design patents filed with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) confirm the news. The design was registered on December 19, 2025, and while Ducati has not confirmed anything officially, the documents suggest an evolutionary update rather than a ground-up redesign.

From the patent images, the overall silhouette of the Diavel V4 remains familiar. However, a closer inspection reveals several subtle changes. One of the most noticeable updates is a revised wheel design, featuring new spoke patterns that could help slightly reduce unsprung mass and improve handling.

At the rear, Ducati appears to have refreshed the quad-exhaust system. The four outlets now feature angled, slash-cut tips, along with honeycomb-style mesh inserts, giving the exhaust a more premium and aggressive finish compared to the current model.

There also appear to be minor revisions to the bodywork, particularly around the side panels and air intake areas. These elements look closely related to what’s expected on the upcoming Diavel V4 RS, which is widely rumoured to arrive in 2026. Adding to the speculation, visible wiring near the front fork suggests the possible inclusion of electronically controlled, semi-active suspension, a feature typically reserved for Ducati’s higher-spec “S” models.

No mechanical details have been confirmed at this stage. The existing Diavel V4 is powered by Ducati’s 1,158cc Granturismo V4 engine, producing 168bhp, and it remains unclear whether the S version will receive any performance upgrades. The more extreme RS variant, meanwhile, is expected to use the Desmosedici Stradale V4.

For now, the patent filing points to a refined and more premium Diavel V4, rather than a radical departure from the current machine, with official details likely to surface closer to Ducati’s 2026 model announcements.
