- Come with a revised 692cc engine
- Updated with new tech for 2025
- No word about NZ launch timeline yet
KTM has introduced updated versions of the 690 SMC R and Enduro R for 2025, both powered by a revised 692cc LC4 engine that meets Euro 5+ regulations. It is said to be the most powerful single-cylinder motor currently available in a road-legal production bike.
The changes were seen on the prototype Enduro R shown at the Adventure Bike Rider Festival in Warwickshire, UK earlier this year. KTM has now confirmed the full list of updates, which includes improvements to the engine, electronics, and styling as well.

The engine receives a new crankcase, clutch, and stator cover, along with a redesigned oil system aimed at better durability and performance. The frame remains a tubular steel design, while the bodywork stays very close to the previous models, with only small ergonomic tweaks and new colours to tell them apart.

The biggest difference is in the technology. The old black-and-white LCD dash has been replaced by a 4.2-inch colour TFT screen, with new handlebar switches and, on the Enduro, a USB-C charging port. Both bikes now feature cornering ABS, traction control, and riding modes. The Enduro takes it a step further with an optional Rally mode that introduces Dynamic Slip Adjust, a system that adapts traction control to different surfaces in real-time.

Although the bikes share the same base, their set-ups reflect different purposes. The SMC R is aimed at road use, running 17-inch wheels with WP Apex 48mm forks offering 224mm of travel, plus a shock with 240mm of movement and remote preload adjustment. The Enduro R is designed for off-road riding, with a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel, WP Xplor forks giving 265mm of travel, and a rear shock with 250mm of movement.
Both models are tall, with the SMC R seat height at 899mm and the Enduro R even higher at 935mm. They share a 13.3-litre fuel tank and both weigh in at 162kg fully fuelled. While the bikes are interesting, there is no word about their NZ and AUS launch timeline yet.
