Moto Guzzi is gearing up to enter the lower-displacement segment with a modern-retro motorcycle built on the Aprilia RS457’s twin-cylinder engine platform. If the plan unfolds as expected, it’ll mark a major shift for the Italian manufacturer, which has traditionally focused on air-cooled V-twin engines.
The upcoming model will share much of its engine and mechanical DNA with the Aprilia Tuono 457 and RS457—both developed in Italy and manufactured at Piaggio’s facility in India. It’s likely that the new Moto Guzzi will also be produced in India, making it one of the brand’s most globally accessible bikes.
However, unlike the Aprilia siblings, the Moto Guzzi prototype features a tubular steel frame with a bolted-on rear sub-frame, replacing the aluminium chassis seen on the Tuono 457. While it shares components like wheels and brakes, the Moto Guzzi has distinct suspension geometry, twin rear shock absorbers, and an upright seating position, offering a unique riding experience.
Though still in the early stages of development, the prototype already hints at classic Moto Guzzi styling, particularly in its fuel tank shape and headlight design. Reports suggest a reworked engine and exhaust system, possibly with internal revisions aimed at delivering a deeper, more traditional Moto Guzzi tone.
A formal launch timeline is still unclear, but a global debut is expected in 2026, with a concept likely to be showcased at EICMA 2025. Once launched, this could be the most affordable and accessible Moto Guzzi ever, especially appealing to riders in emerging markets.
