Norton Motorcycles may carry a storied British heritage, but its current trajectory is being shaped under new leadership. Now part of India’s TVS Motor Company, one of the largest motorcycle manufacturers globally, Norton is steering into fresh territory, leaving behind its troubled past.
Just days ago, Norton released a teaser of what many initially believed to be a compact, entry-level sportbike. With only a quick glimpse of a taillight and aggressive vents, speculation leaned toward a smaller-displacement machine. But it turns out the teaser hinted at something far more serious: an all-new V4 superbike.
Now caught on camera in testing, the heavily camouflaged machine has been spotted in the wild. Despite the disguise (and a rather awkward-looking saddlebag), the bike’s muscular proportions and purposeful design confirm it’s a high-performance supersport, possibly even sharper than Norton’s existing V4SV.
From the front, the design evokes the spirit of the Ducati 1098, with fierce LED headlights, angular styling, and an aerodynamically sculpted windscreen. The tail section matches earlier teaser visuals, reinforcing the link to the prototype Norton recently previewed.
Underneath the bodywork, it’s expected that this bike will inherit the performance DNA of Norton’s V4SV and V4CR. Both models are powered by a 1,200cc V4 engine, delivering 185hp and 92 lb-ft of torque, and built around a handcrafted aluminium chassis fitted with top-tier components from Öhlins and Brembo. Should the new model follow suit—or better yet, improve upon this formula—it could place Norton alongside superbike heavyweights like the Ducati Panigale V4, Aprilia RSV4, and BMW M 1000 RR.
According to Norton, the bike has been created to meet the “highest standards of engineering, design, detail, and dynamism.” A bold statement, but one that gains weight from the sight of TVS CEO Sudarshan Venu personally testing the prototype—proof that the company is deeply invested in delivering on its promise.
While official specs remain under wraps, anticipation continues to build ahead of the bike’s full unveiling at EICMA this November.
