Yamaha has updated its Sport Heritage range for 2027 with a new Legend Blue colour option for the XSR900 GP. The reveal comes just a day after the manufacturer introduced the Neon White finish for the standard XSR900, with both updates focusing on styling rather than mechanical changes.

As the flagship model in Yamaha’s Sport Heritage line-up, the XSR900 GP draws heavily on the brand’s Grand Prix racing history. The new colour scheme pays tribute to former French Grand Prix rider Christian Sarron and the Sonauto Yamaha colours associated with his successful racing career.
Sarron made 148 Grand Prix starts across the 250cc, 350cc and 500cc classes. His career highlight came in 1984, when he won the 250cc World Championship, before his final season in the 500cc class in 1990.
The 2027 XSR900 GP brings this racing connection to life with a Legend Blue finish complemented by light-blue speedblock graphics on the tank and side fairings, along with yellow stripes. Yellow number plates on the front fairing and rear seat cowl further reinforce the motorcycle’s retro racing appearance, inspired by Yamaha’s competition machines of the 1980s.

Underneath the updated paintwork, the XSR900 GP remains mechanically unchanged. It continues to use Yamaha’s 890cc, liquid-cooled CP3 inline-three engine, producing a claimed 117.3bhp at 10,000rpm and 92.9Nm of torque at 7,000rpm.
The new Legend Blue option will join the existing Legend Yellow colour scheme for 2027, allowing the XSR900 GP to retain its distinctive retro Grand Prix styling while offering buyers another tribute to Yamaha’s racing heritage.
