MotoGP has officially released its 2027 calendar, confirming several changes that had previously emerged through leaks. Thailand will open the season, while Valencia remains the final round. However, two races on the schedule have already raised questions over whether they will go ahead as planned.
The Australian Grand Prix is scheduled to take place at the proposed Adelaide Circuit from November 12-14. The date is notable because construction of the new street circuit is currently the subject of a Federal Court injunction application.
The court has not granted the injunction, meaning there is currently no legal order preventing construction of the Adelaide Circuit. However, the application remains under consideration, making the inclusion of firm race dates somewhat premature while the project’s future is still being debated. There is at least some room for caution, as tickets for the 2027 Australian GP are not yet on sale. MotoGP therefore has not asked fans to commit financially to the event while the situation remains unresolved.
The second round of the 2027 season also presents an unusual situation. Following the opening Thai round, MotoGP is scheduled to travel to Qatar from March 12-14.
Qatar’s position on the calendar is noteworthy because this year’s race was already affected by uncertainty over the security situation in the Middle East. Originally scheduled for April 10-12, the 2026 Qatar GP was postponed until November 6-8.
The wider motorsport calendar has also been affected, with Formula 1, the World Endurance Championship and World Rally Championship among the events to withdraw from the region this year. There have also been reports questioning whether the Dakar Rally could be affected, although its organisers have maintained that the event will proceed.

The inclusion of Qatar itself is therefore not necessarily surprising, but placing the race as the second round of the 2027 season, so early in the year, is more notable given the uncertainty that has already affected the event.
As with Adelaide, tickets for the proposed March 12-14 Qatar round are not currently available. For now, both races remain on the official calendar, but their positions come with some uncertainty while the respective situations develop.
