2025 Yamaha Tenere 700 Rally GYTR breaks cover

  • Yamaha T7 Rally GYTR unveiled in Morocco
  • Upgraded parts available for purchase
  • Continues with the same 698cc parallel-twin

Yamaha unveiled the new Tenere 700 Rally GYTR at the 2025 Carta Rallye in Morocco, where the factory Rally Team will compete.

Now, the Tenere 700 Rally GYTR is based on the standard T7 Rally that received a few updates for 2025. It was updated with revised ergonomics, suspension and an addition to its tech package. However, for this edition, Yamaha has dug into the Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing parts bin to adorn it with components to make it competition-ready. That said, customers can also access these parts for purchase and transform their T7 into the version that will take on the 2000km Saharan rally.

These parts on the Tenere 700 Rally GYTR include a revised intake and exhaust to churn out more power from the 698cc, parallel-twin engine it shares with the standard T7 Rally. Then there is a billet aluminium clutch cover and revised final drive gear ratios. Yamaha has also added a full-system Akrapovic exhaust system with titanium headers and end can.

Then there is the KYB closed cartridge forks with a diamond-like coating that offer 270mm of suspension travel to allow for more tuning potential. The bike is also fitted with billet aluminium triple clamp and a 25-setting Scotts steering damper. For the rear, the T7 Rally GYTR comes with a fully-adjustable Paioli shock. Braking is done with a single disc from Italian brand, Braking, instead of the twin disc brake setup on the standard version.

It is the same case with the rear end too. Furthermore, the GYTR wiring harness deletes the ABS system even with the hardware remaining the same. At the rear, the magnet senor and ABS ring have been removed. Coming to the wheels, the bike now gets beefier Taksago Excel rims that are narrower at rear and fit the Michelin Desert Race and Michelin Enduro Medium for the front.

That’s not all, Yamaha have also added 13.6-litre twin saddlebag-style fuel tanks at the rear in combination with the standard 16-litre fuel tank setup. The TFT dash has been replaced with a carbon-fibre rally structure that includes a basic dash and roadbook holder with two ISO trip computers for navigation. Finally, the Yamaha Tenere 700 Rally GYTR also comes with handguards, a rally seat, carbon sump guard and special graphics that highlight the partnership with the Riders for Health charity.

The decked-up bike will be ridden by rally pro Alessandro Botturi and MXGP racer Gautier Paulin at the seven-day event.
