Triumph is strengthening its presence in off-road racing with the launch of two new cross-country models: the TF 250-C and TF 450-C. Designed specifically for the gruelling demands of GNCC-style endurance racing, these machines go far beyond motocross bikes fitted with oversized fuel tanks. Built from the ground up, both models are engineered for long-format racing, offering features such as updated suspension setups, an 8.3-litre fuel tank, rider aids to reduce fatigue, and chassis geometry optimised for challenging cross-country courses.
Triumph TF 250-C

The TF 250-C is aimed at riders seeking nimbleness and control without sacrificing power. It’s powered by a 250cc single-cylinder engine that produces 46.6bhp at 13,250rpm and 17.5 lb-ft of torque at 9,000rpm. Designed to deliver a smooth and manageable powerband, it excels on technical terrain and quick transitions.
The engine benefits from high-end durability features to keep up with the bike’s character, including forged aluminium pistons, DelWest titanium valves, and DLC coatings that reduce friction and improve longevity. Lightweight magnesium covers enhance efficiency, while an advanced cooling system ensures consistent performance over extended runs. It comes with an aluminium spine and twin cradle chassis, paired with KYB suspension offering 310mm of front and 305mm of rear travel. Adjustable compression and rebound settings allow riders to fine-tune the setup for their preferences.

Brembo brakes, featuring a 260mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc, ensure reliable stopping power. An 18-inch rear wheel helps absorb impacts and maintain traction across rough trails. Electronic aids like app-controlled engine maps, launch assist, traction control, and a quickshifter from second to fifth gear give privateer racers a competitive edge without costly aftermarket modifications.
Triumph TF 450-C
The TF 450-C is the heavier hitter, built for those who demand endurance and mid-range strength. Its 449.5cc single-cylinder engine delivers 61.5bhp at 9,500rpm and 36.8 lb-ft of torque at 7,000rpm, offering robust performance across the rev range.
Like its smaller counterpart, the TF 450-C incorporates forged pistons, titanium valves, and DLC coatings to withstand the stresses of long-distance racing. Its steel wet multi-plate clutch, with hydraulic operation, handles high loads while ensuring smooth shifts. A quickshifter also enables clutchless gear changes, allowing riders to focus fully on navigating the terrain.

The chassis, suspension, and braking components mirror those of the TF 250-C, but the rear rim is slightly wider at 2.15 inches, enhancing stability and grip in difficult sections. Even with the larger engine, the bike maintains a manageable wet weight of 112.2kg, keeping it agile on narrow trails and steep climbs.
Both motorcycles will make their way to New Zealand in the coming months, with pricing and availability to be announced soon!
