- Gets new 890cc V2 engine
- Updates to tech and features
- To arrive in NZ and AUS from June 2026
Ducati has unveiled the second-generation Ducati DesertX, with the new model set to arrive in Australia and New Zealand from June 2026. The updated DesertX was first previewed at EICMA 2025 in Milan. Now fully revealed, the 2026 version builds on the original’s rally-inspired platform with refinements across performance, electronics and chassis.

At its core is the 890cc V-twin engine shared with the Ducati Monster V2. It produces 110 hp (108.4 bhp) at 9,000 rpm and 92 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. Ducati says the second-generation model benefits from years of development and competition experience, including events such as the Erzbergrodeo, Rally of Albania, Transanatolia and the NORRA Mexican 1000 Rally.
Finished in a new Matt Star White Silk colourway, the DesertX now comes standard with Ducati’s Quickshifter 2.0 and four levels of Cornering ABS. Levels 1 and 2 are tuned for off-road use, with Level 1 aimed at more experienced riders and Level 2 offering a softer setup, while Levels 3 and 4 are road-focused. ABS can be disabled in Enduro and Rally modes.

There are six riding modes in total: Enduro, Rally, Sport, Touring, Urban and Wet. A new five-inch TFT dashboard displays all information, with three screen layouts, Road, Road Pro and Rally, and automatic day/night switching. Electronics include Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and Engine Brake Control (EBC), all adjustable across multiple levels.
The 2026 DesertX features a slimmer, lighter 18-litre polymer fuel tank and a claimed wet weight of 209 kg (without fuel). The monocoque frame is unique to the DesertX and doubles as the airbox, with Ducati claiming improved access to the air filter thanks to its revised positioning. Braking is handled by Brembo M4.32 monobloc calipers paired with new 305mm front discs. Suspension duties are managed by KYB, with fully adjustable 46mm front forks offering 230mm of travel and a fully adjustable rear monoshock with remote preload adjustment delivering 220mm of rear wheel travel.

The DesertX rides on Pirelli Scorpion Rally Street tyres, wrapped around a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear, underlining its clear off-road intent while maintaining road usability.
