- Based on 500SR Voom
- Follows SR range design language with aggressive lines
- Expected to be launched in AUS and NZ by end of 2026
CFMoto has revealed the new CFMoto 500SR, a fully faired sportbike that builds on the same platform as the existing 500SR Voom but adopts styling aligned with the company’s expanding SR sportbike family.
The model forms part of CFMoto’s growing performance lineup, which now spans multiple engine configurations and displacement categories. The range begins with entry-level singles such as the CFMoto 250SR and CFMoto 300SR, progresses to the twin-cylinder CFMoto 450SR, and then moves into higher-performance territory with the triple-powered CFMoto 675SR-R. At the top of the current lineup sits the inline-four CFMoto 750SR-S, with the brand also developing the upcoming CFMoto 1000SR-RR.
The new 500SR has appeared ahead of its official unveiling through type-approval documents in China, while near-production prototypes have also been spotted testing. Visually, the bike adopts the same design language as the 675SR-R and 750SR-S. Its front end features checkmark-shaped LED daytime running lights positioned above reverse-rake headlights, with air intakes flanking the headlight cluster. The mirrors incorporate integrated turn signals, mirroring the design used on other SR models.
Along the sides, the bodywork includes prominent air guides designed to improve airflow along the bike’s flanks. The fuel tank and tail section follow the same family styling cues, giving the 500SR a consistent visual identity within CFMoto’s sportbike range. Under the bodywork, the motorcycle remains largely unchanged from the mechanically similar 500SR Voom. Suspension consists of 41mm adjustable upside-down front forks paired with a monoshock rear suspension and a double-sided swingarm. The new version does appear to feature brake covers and slightly different callipers compared with the retro-styled Voom model.
Power comes from a 499cc inline four-cylinder engine that produces 78hp at 12,500rpm and 49Nm of torque at 10,000rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch, while a load sensor visible in the gear linkage indicates the presence of an upshift-only quickshifter, similar to the setup used on the Voom. The bike also retains the distinctive dual under-seat exhaust layout, although the new model uses slash-cut mufflers instead of the more conventional units seen on the retro version.
According to approval documents, the new 500SR weighs a claimed 187kg, making it lighter than the 500SR Voom, which is listed at 194kg. Despite the similar chassis, suspension and engine components, the exact source of the weight reduction remains unclear. Other specifications remain familiar, including a 54.9-inch wheelbase and similar handlebar and footpeg positioning, suggesting the riding ergonomics will be largely unchanged.
The CFMoto 500SR is expected to reach Australia and New Zealand by the end of 2026.
